Thesis Awards

As the Aegean Foundation for Children and Trauma, we prioritize increasing scientific knowledge on trauma in children and adolescents and supporting young researchers working in this field. To this end, we honor theses prepared at the master's, doctoral, and medical specialization levels that offer original contributions to the field of trauma in children and adolescents with the "Child and Trauma Postgraduate Thesis Awards."

Our Aims

Our aim is:

  • To encourage scientific research on trauma and children,
  • To make the work of young researchers visible,
  • To support new methods and approaches to protecting, empowering, and healing children and adolescents from trauma.

Who Can Apply?

The awards are open to theses prepared in postgraduate programs or medical specialization training conducted in Health, Social, and Educational Sciences faculties and institutes affiliated with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Studies that address trauma in children and adolescents from a psychological, sociological, cultural, or interdisciplinary perspective and are of superior scientific quality are eligible for the award.

Award Process

Nominated theses are evaluated by an independent selection committee. One master's thesis and one doctoral/specialization thesis are deemed worthy of the award. The awards are presented to the recipients at the internationally organized Child and Trauma Congress. The foundation supports the participation of the award recipients in the congress and provides them with the opportunity to present their work.

Why is it Important?

This award program not only encourages academic production; it also contributes to a better understanding of the traumas experienced by children and adolescents, and to the development of protective and supportive methods. Thus, it adds value to both the scientific community and the future of society.
